[PHP-users 7656] CobaltRaq4でPHPをSHIFT-JISに

みなさま、初めまして。
森田＠初心者と申します。

いま、私は専用サーバーとしてCobaltRaq4をレンタルして動かしております。

[サーバー環境]
Apache/1.3.20
Sun Cobalt (Unix) En
mod_ssl/2.8.4 
OpenSSL/0.9.6b 
PHP/4.1.2
MySQL/3.23.39
mod_auth_pam_external/0.1 
mod_perl/1.25 


このphp-4.1.2-3は.pkgを入れております。
これに Zend Optimizer 1.2 をコンパイルでインスト正常に稼働しています。
その Zend Optimizer1.2 インストール後の php.ini は下記のように設定が
されています。(/usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini)

[mbstring]
default_charset = Shift_JIS
mbstring.internal_encoding = EUC-JP
mbstring.http_input = auto
mbstring.http_output = SJIS
mbstring.detect_order = auto
mbstring.substitute_character = none

しかしながら、この環境では吐き出しがEUC-JPとなってしまうので

[mbstring]
output_buffering = On
output_handler = mb_output_handler
default_charset = Shift_JIS
mbstring.internal_encoding = EUC-JP
mbstring.http_input = auto
mbstring.http_output = SJIS
mbstring.detect_order = auto
mbstring.substitute_character = none

と、変更（追加）しました。
すると、apacheが起動しなくなってしまったのです。(;_:)
現在は設定を元に戻して稼働させていますが、小生としては SHIFT-JIS にて、
はき出させたく思っております。
本来は ZendOptimizer を外すべきだと思うのですが、これを利用したphpを
動かしているものですので、なんとも困っております。
ちなみに、RedHat7.2には同様の環境（って言いましても細かいところは全然
違いますが）にて、SHIFT-JIS にて稼働しています。
Redhatとのphpまわりの大きな違いは、RedHatにはphpをコンパイルモノです。


また、問題のマシンに入っている php の.pkg の configure は下記のようです。

と、てんこ盛りはてんこ盛りなのですが、押さえて欲しいところは押さえてくれているようなんです。
自分としては、php.iniに
output_buffering = On
output_handler = mb_output_handler
を記述することによって SHIFT-JISにさせたいのですが、コケてしまいます。
